Shutterfly

I love COUPONS~ Shutterfly has been very generous to me this month and I finally finished all of Bronson's photobooks and have time to do a really good job on the yearly ones from this point forward. I was talking to a good friend of mine this weekend and I am happy to say that despite my obsession with taking pictures I actually do something with them too. This one reminded me of how totally adorable my baby was from 9-12 months. Sometimes I wish I had a clock to rewind.

Another Reason to Exercise

I have been walking consistently for a couple of weeks with my friend Jodie. We have a great time and I feel better knowing that I am getting my body to move at night and not just laying on the couch with a good book. Yesterday was my 2nd day since this journey to really make my body sweat. My co-worker and I started our workout off by running around the indoor gym at Western Oregon University and then followed it with an intense work-out consisting of different segments from the P90X workout. I loved it! What I love even more about the workout is that I am a really good sore today. The best part is that my net calorie intake for yesterday is -1,111. No I did not expend that many calories from my workout, but combined with sleep and normally being awake I am doing well. I think this motivates me even more to increase my exercise program.

My kid dreams about his police belt and "weapon." He even begs to bring it along for trips. Most days if you stop by my house this is how you will find him.

Breathing Support

Bronson, 1 hour old
Today is one of those days that I have to remind myself that at one point in my healthy 4 year old's life he was on life support. Without the help of Oxygen, IV's, and other medical interventions he would not have survived. It is also a day that I take a moment to thank the Lord that my son had a very minimal time on the CPAP (8 hours) and that he weaned off of nasal prongs very quickly too. I am an avid NICU/Preemie blog reader and it amazes me to see the difference in long-term health amongst those born prematurely. Not everyone is as "lucky" in regards to their children's health. I hate to use the term lucky because I do not really feel lucky, I just feel extremely blessed. I know that my fellow NICU/Preemie parents also consider themselves just as blessed. We all feel that the Lord has provided us with a very huge miracle.

I will continue to support the March of Dimes by raising awareness, funds, and advocacy as long as I am able. March of Dimes helps moms have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies. I strongly believe that the surfactant that I received upon arrival to the hospital is the reason that my son had very minimal breathing support. I just got done reading about a set of twins that are still on oxygen support at nearly 4 years old. My prayers go up for their family as they are now working through the stages of weaning. God is a wonderful healer. I pray for these children and ask for your support via prayer too.

Our family is marching for babies on April 28th of this year. I was just messaged that we currently hold the number #1 spot in the state of Oregon. Although I am very happy to hear this news it makes me sad that we can currently hold the top spot despite our decrease of $3000 in funds. This means that all teams are struggling to make their goals. This in returns that March of Dimes will be getting less funds this year to further their mission. Please think about supporting our March for Babies team by making a donation! No donation is too small. One team makes over $20,000 per year by getting more than 90% of their donations in $10 increments. Help us beat last year's goal! Easter 2011

Mom, are you kidding me?
I love Easter because I can celebrate the reason that I am alive and forgiven; Jesus Christ. The mommy part of me loves to dress up my baby boy and take him to church. This year for Easter we went to our incredible Good Friday Service, a wonderful Easter egg hunt at our church on Saturday, and lunch with my mom on Sunday after church. Easter dinner was done at Ann and Bill's. It seems that we have quite the tradition of dressing our son cute for Easter's past and doing eggs. Last year we had an incredible time, but kept away from church on Easter because of the cold/flu season. My sister was set to deliver any day and we had to be careful about bringing any germs. This year was an action packed weekend, but we enjoyed every minute of it. I will post some pictures later of our Easter egg hunt, but felt that everyone would want to see my little cutie pie.
